Product stewardship is vitally important for ISOPA. It is an approach to managing the potential impacts of different products and materials. It acknowledges that those involved in producing, selling, using and disposing of products have a shared responsibility to ensure that those products or materials are managed in a way that reduces their potential impact, throughout their lifecycle, on the environment and on human health and safety.
ISOPA promotes product stewardship of polyurethane raw materials toluene diisocyanates (TDI) & methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) and Polyols.
To achieve this ISOPA:
- Provides safety information sheets
- Developes training programmes by the members of ISOPA with the aim of improving safety, health and environmental standards when handling MDI, TDI and Polyols.
- Carried out One Step Ahead initiatives to inform manufacturers and users of MDI, TDI and Polyols in Africa and the Middle East
- Has committed to the continuous increase of standards in the loading, transport, unloading and storage of diisocyanates and polyols
