ISOPA facilitates information exchange on safe use of polyurethane chemicals in Cairo

On 24 May 2016, ISOPA held its “One Step Ahead” seminar in Cairo. The one day event, organised by Kristine Dewaele, ISOPA office manager, brought together around 50 participants; the whole polyurethane value chain was represented through foamers, distributors and ISOPA member companies.

To ensure active participation from the audience, the event was simultaneously translated in Arabic.

Els Van Eetvelde, chair of the “One Step Ahead” working group and Jörg Palmersheim, ISOPA secretary general, moderated discussions around boosting behavioural safety of industrials and professional users; continuous exchange of information would be the cornerstone of a safe diisocyanates industry in the Middle East.

In addition, Zsolt Kardos chaired a session on how to use Personal Protective Equipment. All stakeholders were very keen to participate and share their experiences.

At the end of the event, for the first time, ISOPA distributed the‘decontaminated’ stickers amongst the audience. These newly designed stickers, available in English and Arabic, are part of the Empty Drum Management program within the One Step Ahead work group. From now on, empty drums of diisocyanates can be labelled to inform the reconditioner/next user of the drums on the decontamination of the drums. Looking forward to seeing them in use!
